OOn niin laiska etta laitan nyt vaan sahkopostin jonka kirjotin vaihto-ohjelman johtajalle teresalle! Lupaan kirjottaa ensvuonna enemman!
Hey Teresa!
I am doing really well. My winterbreak is at halfway and I have done a lot.
The last day of school the student council (whitch I am in) had an assembly for the whole school. We had a Mr.Warrior spirit pageant where the boys had a formal wear-, swimsuit-, talent- and question round. We also had those minute to win it games and improv skits. We had a contest with two students per teacher, that who raised more money for the prom gets to throw a pie on the others face. I volunteered with my friend Amanda to compeat against our history teacher. I had a good technique: I was asking people with a sign saying "Help the exchange student! I don't want to get pied" and a finnish flag. I would ask people to donate a dollar so I would give them a candycane. Sometimes people would instead ask me to sing "rudolph the rednosed reindeer" in finnish for the donation. I raised $70 in a week and a half! So we won and got to pie the teacher, but he is bald so he could just whipe it off :D
I went to the Museum of Nature and Science with my hostmom and the kids. We saw dinosaur bones, mummies, big snakes and a lot of animals. The museum was really big so we didn't go to see everything but we will go back.
My friend Leroy had his birthday so we went iceskating with a big group of friend and it was so much fun! I naturally love iceskating because I'm from finland and it felt awesome to skate again. Most of my friends hadn't skated before but they learned fast. I showed my friends some tricks like the "hockey stop" when you break by turning sideways and "spraying" the ice. The boys tried it but did not succeed. :D Then we went to eat at Buffalo wild wings and just hang out and talked.
My christmas was really fun! We had both of the hostparents families come here and we ate a lot :D It was just wonderful to see the kids open their presents and it was funny when my littlebrother was the most excited about the trash from the pakages (future trashman) I got a lot of cool things myself like a lot of clothes, pajamas, slippers and a big suitcase from my hostparents for my things when I leave because my suitcase is so small.
And the highlight of my winterbreak: I WENT TO SEE THE AVALANCHE GAME! It was so amazing! I went with my hostmom who is a big avalanche fan herself. We had great seats: right behind the other teams (Montreal Canadians) goal
just twelve rows from the ice. I could literally see the players eyelashes. My brothers love icehockey and we used to collect NHL cards when we were little so i bet they are jealous.
Yesterday I went to the recreation center with my friend Hailey and we worked out, swam and went to the sauna and steam room. The sauna was not nearly like in Finland, but it was nice to see it. I had missed sauna a lot. Everybody in Finland has a sauna. We have two. It was just funny when at the rec center it said that do not throw water on the stones when that is how you get the heat in finnish saunas. But yeah, it was really relaxing and I felt good after working out when I have been eating like a pig during the holidays.
Today we went to see the state capital bulding in denver. It was pretty nice to see where the government and state "action" is going on. We ate at this restaurant called old spaghetti factory.
Hmm I am sure I forgot something important but I will write to you again if I remember.
ONNELLISTA UUTTAVUOTTA! (HAPPY NEW YEAR)
